Baptism, the first sacrament we may receive, gives our souls the new life of sanctifying grace by which we become Christians, children of God, and heirs of heaven. Unless we are baptized, we are forbidden to receive any other sacraments. Baptism washes us from original sin and imparts into our souls sanctifying grace.
Godparents must either be registered parishioners or must provide a letter of good standing from their home parish.
